G. Puccini: “Tosca”

Tosca is an opera in three acts. The music was composed by Giacomo Puccini, libretto written Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica (after the play La Tosca by Victorien Sardou). The premiere took place on 14 January 1900 at Teatro Costanzi in Rome (today Teatro dell Opera di Roma); Conductor was Leopoldo Mugnone (1858-1941). On 21 October 1902, the German-language premiere (translation: Max Kalbeck) followed at the Semperoper in Dresden. Significant for the history of reception in Germany and the German Opera House premiere on Berlin was led by Ignatz Waghalter on May 20, 1920th.
